About Us

The Utah Prevention Coalition Association is a statewide network of coalitions that promote positive lifestyles, prevent substance misuse, and decrease behavioral health problems among Utah’s youth.

Coalitions assess the needs of their local communities and create an action plan. They work to decrease known “risk factors” and support known “protective factors” relating to substance misuse, suicide, delinquency, crime and other risky behaviors.

We complete our action plans by using evidence-based programs, practices and policies to ensure a positive impact. We work together with our communities to create healthy environments where youth can thrive.

Making a Difference

After coalitions met together to work on a statewide prevention policy in 2010, they decided Utah needed a permanent organization to help connect coalitions on important issues and work together. The Utah Prevention Coalition Association (UPCA) was formed in 2012 as a statewide network for behavioral health prevention coalitions. The UPCA shares resources, reduces unnecessary duplication and strengthens collaboration among coalitions. Our organization is run by volunteer leadership voted in from coalitions and supported by partners statewide. We also host an annual coalition summit and monthly webinars. If you want to get involved, reach out to your local coalition or fill out our contact form.
